Crowns and replacing missing teeth

To improve your smile, you may be in need of crowns, implants or other dental restorations to replace missing teeth.

Crowns

A crown is an artificial cap which fits over the prepared tooth in order to restore its natural appearance and function. It may be used to repair teeth or improve their appearance:
Damaged teeth where ordinary filling materials will be insufficient for repair.
Aesthetics – correcting crooked or misshapen teeth as well as replacing large and unsightly fillings.
Aesthetic metal-free and gold crowns are available. Treatment only involves two visits.
It may also be used to reconstruct damaged teeth. A crown costs from £695 per tooth depending on the materials chosen.

Replacing missing teeth

The following are all ways of replacing missing teeth, each with their different benefits. It would be necessary to discuss with one of our dentists the most appropriate treatment to suit your own individual requirements.

Dentures

These may be metal or plastic and will be costed upon consultancy. The price range is from £795 to £1250.

Bridges

Conventional bridges involve crowns being placed on teeth either side of a gap, in order to support an artificial replacement tooth. Bridges cost from £695 per tooth.

Adhesive bridges

These have wings that stick to the adjacent teeth to hold the artificial tooth in place. They require less tooth preparation than a conventional bridge, but are not suitable in all areas of the mouth. Prices range from £695 per tooth.

Dental implants

These involve titanium screws being inserted into the jaw where they integrate with the bone and are able to support an artificial replacement. This is the most advanced method of replacing missing teeth and would not always be appropriate. Treatment is usually completed over a period of 3 to 6 months. Our dentists would be able to advise you on this. An implant consultation including Xrays  is £125.
