A frenectomy is a simple, minimally invasive dental procedure that involves removing or altering a frenum, which is a thin band of tissue in the mouth that connects one part of the oral structure to another.
There are two main types of frenum in the mouth; the labial frenum which connects the upper lip to the gums above your upper front teeth and the lingual frenum which connects the underside of the tongue to the floor of the mouth.
