Improve Your Smile With Small Amounts of Dermal Filler – Reversing the Signs of Ageing Around the Mouth Area
As we age, so do our teeth and the areas around our mouths; here at the Bristol Dental Practice, we understand the impact that investing in our teeth can have on our appearance – enhancing our smiles, reversing the age of our teeth, and boosting our confidence and our overall oral health.
But What About the Area Around Our Mouths and Our Lips?
We asked Dr John Quinn, Aesthetic Expert and Founder of Quinn Clinics in Bristol, for advice on how anti-ageing injectables can complement aesthetic dental surgery to help reverse the signs of ageing around the mouth area.
This area of the face is a concern for many of our patients in their 40s, 50s and 60s, who are often conscious of lipstick lines and wrinkles, thinning of the lips and deep marionette lines (smile lines) that have developed around their mouths.
We often hear the term collagen talked about in our industry – the protein our body naturally produces, providing plumpness in our skin. This begins to deplete from age 25 onwards and, by the time we reach our 40s, is largely responsible for the loss of volume around our mouths, the fine lines and wrinkles that appear and the breakdown in the structure of our lips. This natural ageing process, combined with factors such as sun exposure, smoking and the movement of the muscles in your lips and around your mouth when you talk, smile, smoke, and kiss, significantly affects the youthfulness of our smiles and often our confidence.
So How Can Dermal Fillers Help?
Here at Quinn Clinics, our Doctors use small amounts of strategically placed Dermal Filler to plump and volumise the lip area as well as target the marionette lines that that run from the corner of the mouth to the chin.
We also use unique techniques to inject into the soft white tissue area above the lips to fill fine lines and wrinkles and improve the structure of the upper lip area.
We use only the latest generation of gold-standard dermal fillers from Allegan. These fillers contain hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring substance in our bodies, which helps to improve skin hydration and support the surrounding tissues, reducing sagging and laxity. Small amounts of Dermal Filler, expertly injected into the lower face, can have a truly transformative impact on our lower face, enhancing our faces and giving our patients back the confidence in their smiles.
Is there an alternative to Dermal Fillers?
Yes! HA injections are becoming increasingly popular in the industry, and here at Quinn Clinics, we offer Profhilo Injections (often alongside Dermal Fillers) to help boost the skin’s hydration, improving laxity and its overall tone and appearance.
We use Profhilo in the clinic for bio-remodelling and skin rejuvenation on the face, neck, and hands. We inject it into specific points on the face, where it spreads and stimulates collagen and elastin production. The objective is to improve skin quality, hydration, and firmness rather than augment volume.
Improvement in the condition and radiance of your skin is often visible after a couple of days. The skin remodelling benefits of this treatment take longer, as it stimulates our bodies to produce additional collagen in the treatment area. Patients usually see visible benefits after four weeks, with final results after eight.
