Root Canal Treatment Bristol

Root canal treatment

Millions of people can save their tooth, and their smile, by receiving a root canal treatment.
The team at The Bristol Dental Practice want you to keep your original teeth. Root Canal treatment gives you this option. We want to save your tooth by cleaning out the diseased pulp and alleviating the pain you are feeling.
A root canal treatment is necessary because the tooth cannot heal itself, and it runs the risk of further infection, often leading to an abscess causing extreme pain.

Why Do I feel Pain?

If the tooth has a deep cavity, or fracture, then bacteria can get in and infect the pulp in the root canal of the tooth. The damaged pulp becomes inflamed. The tooth cannot relieve the built up pressure from the inside. You might experience pain when you bite down, chew or drink hot or cold beverages.
If the infected tooth is not attended to quickly then an emergency situation can arise. The infection can spread to the bone and surrounding area, even causing the tooth to fall out.

Why Do I Need A Root Canal Treatment?

  1. Relieve the pain you are experiencing.
  2. Save your natural tooth.
  3. Avoid having your tooth removed.
  4. Prevent recontamination and further discomfort.
  5. Prevent surrounding teeth from moving crookedly because is missing.
  6. Prevent the need for a denture, bridge or implant replacement.

A Root Canal Treatment And A Crown

With a root canal treatment, sometimes the tooth needs the extra strength, support and appearance of a crown to keep the tooth looking as natural as possible. A Crown is a custom made cap for your tooth. It covers your tooth to give it a natural appearance and to protect it from further damage.

What Happens After A Root Canal Treatment?

You may feel a little discomfort after the treatment. We encourage a healthy dental hygiene regime with regular brushing and flossing.
If you experience any tooth pain when eating or drinking, then we recommend that you call the team at The Bristol Dental Practice to make an appointment for a consultation and evaluation.
